Anyfion products are premium, bio-certified goods primarily sold in Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. The challenge for Kioroglou was to create a product range that would communicate the high-quality nature of Anyfion products. The result was a design that was not only visually appealing but also reflective of the product's origins and flavours.
The design process began in July 2016 and concluded in October of the same year in Athens, Greece. The products were silk screen printed on jars and bottles, with the olive oil bottle being the Doricca 500ml. A short run of caper products were printed on stickers. The design was printed in various sizes, catering to the different needs of the market.
Each product in the Anyfion range has a unique icon, inspired by its origin or flavour. For instance, origin icons were selected for honey, as they originate from Farmakas Mountain and the Methana volcano area in Greece. The olive oil and caper product icons were chosen based on the unique shape of olives and capers. This thoughtful approach to design not only adds a visual appeal but also tells a story about the product.
Kioroglou's team, which included a Creative Director, Designer, and Illustrator, conducted extensive research on similar products through internet search and packaging design books. The aesthetics and type were targeted towards the Southern European market, which is the core market for Anyfion products. This careful consideration of the target market is evident in the final design.
The Anyfion packaging design was awarded the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2017. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
In conclusion, Andreas Kioroglou's Anyfion packaging design is a testament to the power of thoughtful, targeted design. By considering the origins and flavours of the products, as well as the target market, Kioroglou was able to create a design that is not only visually appealing but also tells a story about the product. This approach to design has not only resulted in a successful product range but also earned Kioroglou a prestigious design award.
